The Chipspeech characters bring her name up from time to time, and although Dandy has feelings for her, he has no memory of her. Being a time traveler is a reference to her dual usability with the Chipspeech software. Chipspeech is based on "Pre-90s" vocal synthesizer technology and is focused on "The Past" while Alter/Ego is focused on "The Present-Future".
Chipspeech characters such as Dandy or [[w:c:Chipspeech: Bert Gotrax|Bert Gotrax]] used a limited amount of data, so the best method of making their vocals was using Formant 1 or 2 technology. The Formant Singer was optimized in Chipspeech for a monopitch that could give a huge vocal range, because of how limited the source material of these synths was that Plogue was working with at the time. This is why Daisy, who also uses the Formant Singer method, produces a mono-pitched vocal.<ref>[http://www.vocaloidotaku.net/index.php?/topic/61867-other-vocal-synthesizers-unpopular-opinions/page__view__findpost__p__1353260 link]</ref>

Latest revision as of 13:24, 25 June 2019

Daisy is a vocal for Alter/Ego. She was the first vocal presented for the software and, for a time, its default. Her voicebank consist of English and Japanese capabilities and was voiced by Crusher-P, a VOCALOID and UTAU producer. Daisy was illustrated by the artist, Pixoshiru.[1]

History[]

Daisy was produced as an experimental voice for Chipspeech. Her creation led to the development of a separate software to handle modern vocals, Alter/Ego.[2]

Daisy was unveiled on August 26th, 2015 as the first vocal for Alter/Ego. She was offered as a demonstration vocal and was distributed for free.[3] Alongside Alter/Ego itself, she was released on 9th September 2015.[4]

Daisy was set up for retirement on 31st October 2016. The reason for her retirement was said to be technical related. Bones became the default vocal for Alter/Ego instead.[5] In addition to this, her copyright was also held by Crusher-P, who made the call to retire her.[6]

The original link to her download has been removed and Crusher-P has since expressed a note that they are uncomfortable with users who still use the vocal.

Concept[]

Daisy is a lonely time traveler and the estranged lover of Dandy 704 from Chipspeech.

In the worlds of Alter/Ego and Chipspeech, Daisy is regarded as a temporal anomaly.[7]

According to Dee Klatt, Daisy used to get stressed out over colors and cats. She would typically say bad things, but meant well.[8] Dee also mentioned Daisy was on a secret mission.[9] Spencer AL2 noted when she left, codes appeared and that he would like to search for her if he could.[10] [11]

Etymology[]

The name "Daisy Bell" is a direct reference to a notable moment in history, the song the first computer to sing performed.

Appearances[]

Daisy is a human female with white hair, blue eyes, and pale skin. She wears a blue hat, dress, and bracelet. The background of her Alter/Ego version features her leaving a steam powered time machine. On it is a Back to the Future-style Flux Capacitor.

Relations[]

  • Dandy 704 and Daisy's relationship is another nod to the song "Daisy Bell", which was sung by the IMB 704 of which Dandy is based upon. This was the first ever song sung by a computer. This is further backed up by Daisy's Twitter account being "Daisy__Bell_".

Basic details
Daisy's voicebank was released on September 9, 2015 for the Chipspeech and Alter/Ego software. However, her vocal were retired October 31, 2016.
  • This voicebank was the first for Alter/Ego; it acted as the default vocal before eventually being retired and replaced with Bones.
  • She is the only Alter/Ego vocal able to be registered for use in Chipspeech. This is because she was originally developed using the Chipspeech software and was an attempt to take the ARIA Engine in a different direction besides vintage synthesizer based vocals.
    • She was released as the final "HD" vocal for Chipspeech, the other being "Lady Parsec HD".[12]
  • It operates on Microsoft Windows and macOS.
  • The purpose is Vocalizing and Singing.
Language as noted:
  • This voicebank was recorded for the English and Japanese languages.

Presets include:

  • Basic
  • Bunny
  • Choir
  • Diva
  • Gremlin
  • in the box
  • Male Baritone

  • Male Crooner
  • Male Tenor
  • Morphing Always
  • Octave morph
  • Sirens Alert
  • Star
  • Sweep Pad Male

Software issues as noted:
  • Contains a number of glitches an bugs due to being the equivalent of a "prototype".
  • Despite being retired as the default vocal for Alter/Ego, users are still able to use her voicebank without technical support.[13]
    • Plogue has since noted that they will not give out her download even if asked do not want people to ask either. Users had until the 1st of December 2016 to download her if they knew the download URL.[14]
  • Registering her for Chipspeech is different to Alter/Ego and users may have to read a "how to" guide in order to install her into the software.
    • Note that while other Chipspeech characters were later given the ability to talk, Daisy cannot.
